Many people know that outdated felt and bitumen flat roofs are prone to leaking, causing considerable internal damage. An ideal solution is to have a roof fitted by GRP Roofing UK.

A GRP flat roof, regardless of size, shape, or contour, will outperform virtually any other traditional roofing material, including the outdated felt and bitumen type roof.

First and foremost a flat roof installed using GPR is designed to last, unlike felt and EDPM (rubber) systems. The GRP flat roof can be walked on, there are no joints or seems that allow water to penetrate. This is why it carries a 20 year guarantee.
With Ultra Violet inhibitors available in a wide range of colours to make sure your new flat roof looks good for years to come.
We have installed flat roofs throughout the south of England to the satisfaction of our customers. Our mission is to install a GRP flat roof of such high standard that you would have no hesitation in recommending us. We built our reputation on them.

The first RNLI GRP built Arun Class lifeboat. Was moulded in 1975 and still looks good and is still service today, a mere 32 years later. We are not suggesting that you subject your GRP flat roof to this but it’s nice to know what level of punishment GRP can take.

The procedure

Once we have discussed your requirements, answered any questions you may have, we will then take some measurements and provide you with a quotation..

The method

  1. We strip your roof down to the roof joists.
  2. Install new decking comprising 18mm OSB-3 exterior grade tongue & groove sterling board.
  3. Fit the appropriate pre-formed GRP trims to the roof perimeter.
  4. Apply the GRP laminate of polyester resin and chopped strand mat glass fibre.
(See the exploded diagram at the foot of the page for details.)
  5. Apply the flow coat. This coat contains the UV inhibitors protecting the laminate from the elements. It also contains a colour pigment giving the roof the colour of your choice.
